Full time

Founded in 1997, Virtú Investments is a multifamily investment manager with nearly three decades of cycle-tested results.
We combine deep market insight, full-scope execution, and a collaborative culture to create lasting value for our investors and partners.
As we scale our data‑driven and AI‑enabled capabilities, we are seeking an Associate or Director of Data Science (title commensurate with experience and skill set)
who will serve as the primary technical analyst, transforming raw property, market, and operational data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be instrumental in designing and implementing the company's data science platform.
  • Own data‑ingestion pipelines from our data sources using Python/SQL.
  • Build statistical models, dashboards, and other ad hoc analyses to drive strategy around acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, and market selection.
  • Translate complex findings into concise narratives and visualizations for the Chief Investment Officer and senior leadership.
  • Advanced Analytics & ML (50%) – Deploy data science techniques (e.g., forecasting models, geospatial analyses) to support evidence‑based decision making.
  • Data Engineering & Governance (30%) – Design repeatable ETL pipelines from platforms like Yardi, RealPage, and CoStar, ensuring high data quality.
  • Insight Delivery (20%) – Craft executive‑level presentations, self‑service BI dashboards, and memos that bridge analysis with investment actions.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a data science role, delivering production analytics or machine learning solutions (real‑estate/finance experience is a plus).
  • Fluency in Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and SQL with expertise in querying and optimizing data pipelines.
  • Proven ability to visualize data effectively (experience with Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, etc.) and communicate insights to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to contribute immediately to the design of a data science platform.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (Master's degree is a plus).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior multifamily underwriting or exposure to property‑management systems (e.g., Yardi, RealPage).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for analytics workflows.
  • Geospatial analysis skills, including working with location‑based data such as map layers and drive‑time polygons.
  • Familiarity with vector search or LLM prompt engineering (e.g., Azure AI Search, Pinecone).

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $180,000 (commensurate with experience and skill set) plus an Annual Performance Bonus of 10-20% of base salary.
  • Benefits: Full medical, dental, and 401(k) with employer match.
  • Competitive compensation package with a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Office-based role in San Diego, CA with a 5-day in-office schedule.
