Job Description

Position Overview

Plug is proud to support transitioning service members through the DoD SkillBridge program, offering industry-specific training, certifications, and hands-on experience. In this role as a Field Service Technician, you will support our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks by performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and administrative documentation. This opportunity is available in multiple locations including Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Newark, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Riverside, CA; Stockton, CA; Dallas, TX; and Houston, TX. Eligible candidates are active U.S. military members with 180 or fewer days remaining before separation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and servicing of fuel cells at customer sites, including preventive maintenance and breakdown resolution.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and evaluate equipment performance; perform field retrofits and software/hardware upgrades.
  • Provide on-call and emergency support, ensuring professional representation of Plug Power at all times.
  • Order parts, purchase tools and equipment as needed, and maintain effective communication with customer personnel and regional service representatives.
  • Complete administrative duties such as incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and accurate site documentation.
  • Enforce safety procedures on-site and during field operations while adhering to traffic laws and safe driving practices.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework
  • Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting (or formal training/education in lieu of experience)
  • Valid driver license, clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly without assistance
  • General mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with dynamic interpersonal abilities
  • Strong commitment to quality, time management, and independent work
  • Must supply own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools are provided by Plug Power

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
