Position Overview

In the role of Staff Design Project Manager (Large Projects), you will manage multiple complex transmission and distribution projects from inception to completion, delivering effective construction designs and customer connections. You will play a pivotal role in implementing innovative design solutions that contribute to sustainable and reliable power distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Manages multiple projects of varying complexity—including street lighting, residential, commercial, industrial, system maintenance, capacity additions, major budgeted projects, and road widening—to deliver timely and reliable construction designs and customer connections.
- Design Production: Conducts complex technical analyses and oversees the creation of complete designs using current design technologies; ensures design decisions are cost‑effective, safe, and maintainable.
- Project Execution: Ensures that all project steps are completed on schedule, effectively balances multiple tasks, and coordinates work across departments while often serving as a lead or mentor.
- Customer Care: Acts as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle, translating customer requirements into compliant design and service solutions.
- Leadership and Consultation: Serves as a subject matter expert within the department, providing training and guidance to team members on escalated issues.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Typically five or more years in utility operations or a related field.
- Functional Competencies: Intermediate knowledge of company standards, tariffs, applicable codes, engineering concepts, and PGE's electrical system.
