Position Overview
At a leading architectural glass manufacturer specializing in precision-cut, high-performance glass systems used in commercial, industrial, and specialty applications, the CNC Machinist plays a key role in producing high-quality glass components. You will set up, program, and operate CNC cutting, drilling, and edging machinery to meet exact specifications while ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. You’ll work closely with production leads, maintenance technicians, and quality control personnel to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC glass cutting and shaping machines (e.g., Forvet, Intermac, Bottero, Lisec, etc.).
- Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and production schedules to plan machining operations.
- Adjust machine settings, tooling, and offsets to achieve required tolerances and surface finishes.
- Inspect finished glass parts for accuracy, edge quality, and dimensional conformity using precision measuring tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and work area to ensure consistent performance.
- Collaborate with engineers and production supervisors to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Monitor production flow and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction.
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and material handling guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist in glass fabrication.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and CNC programming basics (G-code or proprietary software).
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances, feeds, and speeds.
- Familiarity with machine calibration, tool changes, and maintenance.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Forvet or similar vertical CNC machines.
- Exposure to glass handling equipment and safety procedures.
- Basic understanding of edge polishing, drilling, and tempering processes.
