Position Overview

Location: LSC Admin Office - Salisbury, NC 28145
Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00
Schedule: Full Time, First Shift

The Lead Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for general accounting duties for all LSC facilities. The Lead Senior Accountant will assist the Controller with his/her duties and will train and support other senior accountants with their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accounting activities including, but not limited to, preparation and posting of journal entries, analyzing account reconciliations (including bank accounts), audit allocations to subsidiaries and programs, and processing month‑end and year‑end closing tasks.
  • Coordination of fixed asset responsibilities: maintain fixed assets ledgers, reconcile to general ledgers, and review/update detailed schedules of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
  • Reconcile cash and investment accounts.
  • Support in generating and reviewing monthly financial statements.
  • Deliver projected annual depreciation for budgets.
  • Conduct annual analysis and reporting as requested by management.
  • Generate audit schedules and roll‑forward reports.
  • Analyze and report data as requested by management.
  • Participate in facilitating successful internal and external audits.
  • Gather relevant information and issue IRS forms W‑2.
  • Manage ad‑hoc financial reporting requests and special projects, including the completion of industry surveys and claims for sales tax refunds.
  • Assist with maintaining the integrity of the financial information systems and sub‑ledgers, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company internal controls, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Assist with implementation of new systems that create process improvements by employing the latest technology.
  • Train senior and staff accountants on all accounting activities, including analysis and account reconciliation.
  • Recommend process improvements and create efficiencies in financial reporting and other accounting activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience Required: Minimum of five years in Accounting.
  • Specific skills/abilities: Attention to detail and follow through. Effective interpersonal communication skills and working relationships. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, databases, and Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Email).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with general ledger and non‑profit accounting.
