The Company:Prime Auto USA is an independent used car dealership located in Jackson, TN with a full sales team, finance team, client success team and service team with a total of just under 50 employees and selling just under 100 cars per month. We provide automotive reconditioning to cars that are being prepared to sell including an initial cosmetic intake process and subsequent 80 point inspection followed by on-going repairs for customer pay work. Job Description:An Underwriter, or Loan Underwriter, is a financial professional responsible for assisting in the loan application process by determining the risk-level of working with an applicant. Their duties include researching a client’s credit, income and assets, reviewing applications based on policy guidelines and performing risk assessment reports.

  • Collect, review and analyze an applicant’s relevant history and records
  • Obtain additional information about an applicant to determine coverage needs
  • Determine the level of risk for insuring or lending
  • Offer recommendations on whether or not to approve an application
  • Help agents determine premium costs
  • Evaluate insurance claims for accuracy and the coverage amount

Duties:Underwriters perform many analytical tasks to fully review and assess an applicant to ensure their company provides the right amount of coverage or assistance. They often have the following responsibilities:

It is typical for the Underwriter to complete the following work daily:

  • Review approved loans/insurance policies to ensure that all legal regulations, required conditions, and company policies are met
  • Research all areas of an applicant’s financial background, including employment history, credit reports, and banking and asset information
  • Analyze financial information and create comprehensive risk assessment reports for each applicant, communicating findings clearly with team members
  • Advise the company on whether or not to approve an application based on risk assessment
  • Proofread files before they are submitted for approval, correcting any errors and filling in any incomplete details
  • Other special projects you see as an opportunity or as assigned by your Manager.

Expected Results:

The activities listed above are to result in:

  • Mitigate company lending/insuring risk by carefully analyzing applicants’ information and making strong recommendations based on findings
  • Work seamlessly with loan processors and other team members to ensure a smooth, speedy application process for potential clients
  • Determine appropriate loan/premium amounts for each applicant, adhering to company policies and standards
  • Uncover any undisclosed debt, cash flow issues, or other missing financial information
  • Understand the rules and regulations that govern lending or insuring in the country of hire
  • Ensure that all loan/policy applications and files are complete and accurate

Pay:$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
