Job Description

Position Overview

This position is located in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Chief Digital Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO), Executive Decisions Support Branch in the Business Analytics and Insights Division of the CDAO Business Analytics Directorate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a platform or cloud engineer, or application developer, or site reliability engineer for the Infrastructure & Platforms Division incorporating cloud-based tools, applications, or services to support Data, Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and DevSecOps principles.
  • Provide technical expertise in current-market technologies to accelerate development, test, and deployment of secure, data and AI/ML-enabled applications to DoD.
  • Develop the CDAO application development strategy and lead its implementation, management, and lifecycle planning.
  • Design tools and software to address DoD and CDAO development, test, and deployment use cases based on DoD DevSecOps principles, microservices architectures, cybersecurity standards, and API gateway technologies.
  • Collaborate through technical leadership within CDAO Divisions and manage external partnerships with DoD, Industry, and Academic institutions.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see https://www.sss.gov/Home/Registration).
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
  • A three year probationary period may be required if not previously completed.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment and participate in the direct deposit program.
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.
  • Relocation and recruitment incentives may be authorized per regulatory requirements.
  • Applicant must have directly applicable experience in advising on technologies for AI/ML-enabled applications, directing development and lifecycle management of data infrastructure, and providing technical guidance on architecture engineering. Must meet the basic requirements as specified in the announcement.
  • Education cannot be substituted for experience.
