Job Description

Position Overview

Reporting to the site General Manager, the Engineering Manager is a key role on the site management team responsible for the planning and engineering function in a 24/7 aerospace manufacturing facility. The role directs and oversees daily departmental activities, develops and reviews/approves manufacturing plans for various aerospace metallic and composite components and assemblies, and manages the creation and maintenance of engineering drawings, supplier and customer configuration documentation, and ERP planning. This position requires strict compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), meaning candidates must be U.S. Persons per applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and/or approve manufacturing plans in coordination with CNC programming and functional teams to configure, interpret, and maintain manufactured parts, components, and assemblies.
  • Ensure configuration management is maintained from receipt of engineering through to part marking before stock.
  • Review and distribute customer engineering, quality requirements, specifications, and configuration plans.
  • Maintain, control, and interpret customer engineering datasets (CAD models, drawings, parts lists, specifications and approved processor lists) and coordinate engineering changes with internal departments ensuring accurate ERP entry.
  • Support production, program management, procurement, and quality by interpreting engineering documentation and serving as the primary contact for related issues.
  • Develop and deploy continuous improvement plans for the engineering/planning department.
  • Exemplify integrity, clear communication, and compliance by following policies and providing timely responses to internal and external customers.
  • Manage the selection, performance, and development of direct and indirect reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including regular on-site attendance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar technical field; an MBA in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in planning and engineering for manufacturing operations.
  • Supervisory experience and a proven track record in aerospace manufacturing are required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AS9100, FAA standards, federal regulations, and industry manufacturing standards and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications and coordinate technical requirements with suppliers and customers.
  • Familiarity with configuration management principles and processes.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Strong self-management, leadership, and communication skills (both written and verbal in English).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, charts, graphs, and complex formulas).
  • Experience with ERP systems (Infor Visual preferred), engineering drafting/modeling software (Catia V5CAD/CAM preferred), and data manipulation tools.
