Position Overview

As a Senior Marketing Strategist, you will help reinvent news by driving innovative brand partnerships, leveraging deep tech and market insights, and collaborating across editorial, product, creative, and research teams to support one of the most trusted news organizations in the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an internal expert by sharing fresh intelligence, competitive insights, and strategic rigor to inform high-impact client solutions.
  • Collaborate with SIP/newsroom and cross-functional teams to customize and elevate category-specific templates for newsroom initiatives and products.
  • Leverage audience insights, behavioral data, and market research to craft compelling narratives.
  • Partner with Sales to shape go-to-market narratives that are persuasive, differentiated, and built to win.
  • Manage multiple opportunities concurrently in a fast-paced environment with urgency and discipline.
  • Raise the team’s strategic bar by developing tools, training, playbooks, and scalable templates.
  • Represent The Washington Post’s strategic capabilities in client-facing sessions including pitches and thought-leadership forums.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in strategic, integrated, or brand marketing, preferably in an agency or media setting.
  • Proven ability to translate client goals and industry dynamics into compelling, insight-led marketing solutions.
  • Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of digital media platforms, branded content, and the evolving advertising ecosystem.
  • Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills with a knack for distilling complexity into clear narratives.
  • Highly proficient in presentation development and detail-oriented while managing multiple high-priority projects.
  • Self-starter with a solutions-oriented mindset and a collaborative spirit.
  • Experience working with or selling into clients or agencies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the news media landscape is a plus.

  • Salary: $149,900 - $278,300 Annual (actual salary depends on individual skills, experience, and qualifications; bonus or incentive programs may apply)
