Position Overview

In this role, the Research & Development (R&D) Engineer (ADAS & Vehicle Performance Engineering) will investigate and analyze market and technical trends, driving the development of future vehicles to meet North American customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate competitor products and Subaru vehicles to determine strengths and weaknesses in areas such as ride, handling, braking, drivability, stability, and NVH.
- Coordinate benchmarking activities including research, evaluation, and analysis of automotive components and vehicle features.
- Plan and execute market research, surveys, and field studies to gather customer feedback and inform design requirements.
- Develop and refine tools for numerical analysis and integrate qualitative evaluations into technical drawings using CAD, VR, and CNC methods.
- Collaborate with teams in North America and Japan to align research findings with future product development and infrastructure planning.
Required Qualifications
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking with creative and strategic problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills across cultures.
- Proven expertise in automobile evaluation with the ability to describe performance in both subjective and engineering terms.
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD), three-dimensional (3D) printing, and basic familiarity with Ubuntu Linux.
- A valid driver's license and the willingness to travel as required.
- Passion for automobiles, customer service, and sustainability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in Python, C++, MATLAB, Javascript, Vector tools, dSPACE tools, and/or NVIDIA DRIVE.
- Advanced understanding of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), or mixed reality (MR) and automotive drawing design.
- Familiarity with controller area network (CAN), TCP/IP, or other electronic signal protocols.
- Understanding of materials science related to plastics, injection molding, and mechanical testing.
- Professional proficiency in both Japanese and English.
