Underwriting Associate

Position Overview

biBerk, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is an A++ rated organization rapidly expanding its footprint throughout the US. In the role of Underwriting Associate within our Commercial Underwriting Unit, you will learn to evaluate risks for Workers’ Compensation, Business owners’, Commercial Auto, Professional Liability, and Umbrella policies for small businesses. This is a great opportunity to begin your career in the commercial insurance industry. The position is hybrid (in-office and remote) in Omaha, NE with a shift from 9AM to 5:30PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize company underwriting criteria to evaluate risks for various lines of business
• Perform independent verification of insured's operations
• Review and process change requests on in-force policies
• Evaluate in-force policies at renewal
• Participate in Underwriting Training for new products, directives, and processes
• Participate in projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Prior experience in underwriting is a plus, but not required

• Strong investigative skills
• Ability to utilize the internet as a research tool
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Adaptability in a constantly changing environment, including changes to technology, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory conditions
