Job Description

Senior Director Translational Biology

Location: Onsite in the Greater Los Angeles area - relocation provided

We are partnering with a fast-paced, innovative biotechnology company seeking a Senior Director / Executive Director of Translational Biology to lead translational strategy and advance a growing pipeline of small-molecule therapeutics toward the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead translational research strategy across multiple small-molecule drug development programs from discovery through IND and clinical development.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing laboratory-based translational research team.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across discovery, pharmacology, toxicology, biomarker development, clinical development, and regulatory.
  • Oversee translational plans, biomarker strategies, and preclinical studies supporting candidate selection and clinical development.
  • Provide scientific leadership in a fast-paced biotech environment, working closely with senior leadership and external partners to advance key pipeline milestones.

Qualifications

  • PhD: in a relevant scientific discipline required, with significant industry experience in translational research and drug development.
  • Proven track record: of successfully driving multiple programs through IND submission and into clinical development.
  • Strong small-molecule drug development background: required.
  • Demonstrated experience: managing and developing laboratory-based research teams within a fast-paced biotechnology environment.
  • Therapeutic area experience: in Neurology, Immunology, or Rare Disease strongly preferred.
