Position Overview
The Assistant Mechanical Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams in creating world‐class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The engineer will collaborate with the project team throughout the design and construction process—adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
Location: US-TX-Fort Worth. Schedule: Full-time. Travel: 25% of the Time. Job Type: New Grad.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review production drawings for diverse projects including power plants, process facilities, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, governmental, and military facilities.
- Design mechanical components to meet project needs and requirements set by project managers.
- Apply basic knowledge of mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
- Conduct research and compile project-related data as required.
- Correct and update drawings provided by senior engineers using multiple CAD software platforms.
- Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
- Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for both public and private clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program; alternatively, a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Basic knowledge in standard mechanical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment with strong critical thinking skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D rendering programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
- Strong attention to detail, along with facilitation, team building, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship and/or related consulting experience.
- Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Involvement on campus or in the community.
