Position Overview

Manufacturing Engineer (First Shift) – CACI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Optical and Photonics Systems Division in Orlando, FL. This division specializes in designing, developing, and manufacturing complex, state-of-the-art communications systems for military, space, and commercial applications. The role offers multiple shifts including a first shift (Monday through Friday), a second shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm – with plans to move to four ten-hour days Monday through Thursday), and a third shift (three twelve-hour days on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead fabrication process development, documentation, ECOs, and process training while maintaining production yield, quality, and cleanliness.
  • Interface with design engineers to ensure hardware producibility and develop build strategies.
  • Drive cost reduction and implement optimal process control to deliver top quality products.
  • Direct support personnel in the daily execution of manufacturing tasks.
  • Propose and translate new concepts into tangible process improvements.
  • Plan and support the build and modification of electronic systems including procurement, assembly instruction generation, tooling design, material/process development, facilities planning, and troubleshooting manufacturing, quality and reliability issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in ME, EE or OE with a minimum of 3 years of related experience OR an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Optics Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process control, cleanroom protocols, and control for complex opto-mechanical and electro-optical assemblies.
  • Proven technical acumen in the manufacture, testing, and integration of complex product technologies and systems for DoD or Space applications.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work collaboratively at all levels.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MIL/IPC workmanship and performance standards for electronic assemblies (IPC-610, IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-883, NASA Spec.).
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
