Position Overview
Delaware North is searching for a Data Engineer to join our team at our Global Headquarters in Buffalo, New York. The Data Engineering team collects raw data from various systems, transforms it into canonical models, harmonizes and enhances the data, and delivers trusted datasets to our consumers. This work forms the foundation for automating business processes, gathering insights, and making informed decisions. You will work closely with business partners to identify integration opportunities with existing systems using Delaware North's Data Platform, which leverages technologies such as Databricks (pySpark), Amazon Web Services, SQL, Python, Terraform, Django, Apache Airflow, MongoDB, and Mulesoft.
Salary: $68,800 - $92,900 per year

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement project-based solutions.
- Implement data platform improvements and new features.
- Assist the support team with resolving data platform bug fixes.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and internal users to clarify data requirements.
- Participate in group design and architecture sessions.
- Author documentation for standard operating procedures and knowledge base articles.
- Develop integration tests to validate solutions.
- Analyze data and provide recommendations to optimize business operations.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience developing data pipeline (ETL) processes.
- Extensive experience in SQL, query writing, and schema design.
- Experience designing and developing solutions using modern programming languages such as Python and Spark.
- Experience with Spark and columnar data formats (Delta/Iceberg).
- Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow.
- Experience with data analytics platforms such as Databricks.
- Experience with data integration methodologies including RESTful Web Services, web hooks, and data streams.
- Experience with data persistence methods such as NoSQL and RDBMS (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Cloud computing experience, with AWS preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in handling large data sets, high performance computing, and building high-performance data integration solutions.
- Proficiency with Unix/Linux environments.
- Familiarity with data modeling and transformation techniques.
- Ability to effectively triage and track issues through to resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar STEM field.
