Job Description
Position Overview
Shriners Children’s is a respected leader in pediatric specialty care known for excellence in patient care, innovative research, and a supportive, learning-focused environment. As the Marketing & Communications Manager, you will develop and implement a strategic marketing and communications plan to drive the goals of Shriners Children’s Portland and its affiliated outpatient clinics. This role requires close collaboration with senior leadership, the MarCom team, Board of Governors, and community partners to elevate the brand and engage diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategic marketing and communications plan, including budget creation and oversight.
- Supervise, mentor, and train the dedicated MarCom Specialist while managing multiple projects and serving on committees.
- Manage facility special events, media engagements, and serve as a media escort, ensuring confidentiality and patient privacy during visits.
- Create, write, edit, and distribute digital content across websites, social media channels, and press releases while maintaining brand consistency.
- Research media outlets, maintain up-to-date contact lists, and update the Digital Assets Management system to support overall department initiatives.
- Collaborate with hospital administration, Shriners International, Board of Governors, and community partners to ensure effective communication and strategic alignment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
- Proven team leadership skills with experience collaborating with senior leadership.
- Deep understanding of the Pacific Northwest healthcare market, including its culture and systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in media relations and crisis communications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while fostering effective communication.
- Strong writing and editing skills for print and digital channels – writing sample required.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 and experience with media monitoring and digital content management platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a pediatric healthcare setting (hospital, clinic, or system).
- Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar email marketing solutions.
