Job Description

Position Overview

Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the Bexar County Information Technology team to ensure the successful delivery of IT services. This role represents the County in a professional and effective manner while establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations, vendors, and the general public. Flexibility to achieve performance excellence in a telework arrangement is a key aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between various offices and departments to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate business requirements for changes to processes, policies, and systems; support Enterprise Business Systems and Enterprise Architecture in the demand assessment and screening process.
  • Interact directly with customers to create visualizations for business use cases, processes, and workflows using tools such as Visio or SmartDraw.
  • Coordinate with application vendors and internal departments to ensure support and upgrade readiness.
  • Provide technical support for the configuration and implementation of Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) software applications related to Enterprise Business Systems.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the technology portfolio for Enterprise Business Systems.
  • Ensure proper software operation by supporting and training Enterprise Business Systems team members and client personnel.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed configuration and functional specification documents, along with standards and operating procedures.
  • Develop computer-based training materials using authoring tools such as Camtasia.
  • Support the Enterprise Business Systems service line in delivering robust solutions to the enterprise.
  • Interact with software, hardware, and professional services vendors as required.
  • Communicate effectively through progress reports, user documentation, and formal presentations to teams and management.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of third party software, vendors, or service providers.
  • Perform other technology-related duties and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college/university with a relevant degree and 1-3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven knowledge of software configuration and Enterprise Business Systems, with hands-on experience in supporting these systems.
  • Highly skilled in analytical and problem-solving techniques; proficient with Windows server and desktop operating systems, business systems analysis, software testing, report writing, project management, and/or business analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies and establish effective working relationships.
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance, pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen test, be available for on-call duty 24 hours, and be willing to work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek or on weekends when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft 365 experience and/or certification.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service with a self-motivated, independent work ethic.
  • Experience with Visio or other diagramming software (samples may be provided with the application).
  • Experience in enterprise application support.
  • Experience with Adobe Sign and workflow automation.
