Job Description
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Manager, Health & Welfare Benefits, this role develops, implements, administers and maintains Rush Health & Welfare benefit plans. It is responsible for ensuring accurate data file feeds, data integrity and accuracy while assisting with standard benefit plan workflow processes. The role models exceptional internal customer service for the Benefits Team, HR Business Partners and employees, and supports the evaluation and improvement of Rush’s work environment and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the Benefits Manager in developing, training, organizing and tracking the workflow and processes for the Benefits Team to ensure effective and accurate benefits communication and administration.
- Provides and models internal customer service skills to Benefits Team, HR Business Partners and employees; acts as a subject matter expert, responding to unresolved and escalated employee questions/issues.
- Provides appropriate administrative support including supply ordering, mail distribution, check deposits and assistance to the Benefits Manager and Team when necessary.
- Processes monthly billing payments to health and welfare vendors, emails check requests to AP, saves in files, and logs in spreadsheets.
- Completes child support notice requests from HFS-Healthcare and Family Services and emails back for processing.
- Fulfills file requests from HR or Legal Department using the OnBase system.
- Coordinates with Benefit Focus website updates and collateral material requests, ensuring accurate website content including Open Enrollment updates.
- Maintains and updates the Benefits section of Rush’s internal website.
- Participates in discussions regarding file feeds or benefits projects with the Manager, HR Technology and support staff.
- Provides assistance for Leave of Absence and Severance COBRA processing.
- Supports the Benefits Manager and team with developing, coordinating, scheduling and facilitating events as needed.
- Assists employees with Student Loans requesting a Loan Forgiveness or Perkins Loan Form by obtaining and verifying necessary employment information and processing required forms.
- Works with the Sr. Benefits Analyst regarding COBRA, Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care, and Transportation Management with external vendors.
- Assists and participates in revising or managing benefit policies.
- Assists with collecting and providing internal and external annual audit requests.
- Manages ongoing benefits projects and spreadsheets, continuously reviewing, identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Completes Medicare Forms for employees with information from LINK LTM and OnBase.
- Participates in appropriate benefit and wellness surveys.
- Maintains an annual calendar of mandated legal filing due dates.
- Provides benefit support for the FMLA Leave Administrator as needed.
- Offers benefits administration support to the Benefits Manager with executive management benefit programs.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in benefits or financial analysis and administration.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess and resolve issues related to scheduling, projects, and daily responsibilities.
- Strong evidence-based analytical approach with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with and influence a wide range of internal and external constituencies.
- Excellent independent judgment and the ability to maintain high integrity and confidentiality.
- Highly organized with the capability to plan, track, evaluate, and follow up on multiple priorities.
- Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency in customer service to set an example for others.
- Initiative to work collaboratively and solve problems with peers and customers.
- Must be approachable, dependable, and a self-starter with the aptitude to quickly understand issues and follow through on solutions.
- Capacity to discern between developing a long-lasting solution versus a quick fix and apply appropriate judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with tier two call center or comparable customer support.
- PHR or SPHR certification.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: $27.47 - $34.34 per hour.
- Work Schedule: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0), Shift 1 (8:00:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM).
