Position Overview
Far Bank is the world's authority in fly fishing, representing renowned brands such as Sage, Redington, RIO Products, and Fly Water Travel. We design, manufacture, and distribute high-quality fly fishing products and performance outdoor apparel. Since 1980, our mission has been to inspire fly anglers through outstanding products and extraordinary experiences. In this key role as Director of Finance/Controller, you will join our senior leadership team to lead our financial strategy, oversee reporting, ensure robust internal controls, and drive compliance and innovation across our finance functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and Lead: Recruit, develop, mentor, and direct the accounting & finance team while playing a pivotal role in shaping the overall business strategy.
- Drive Accuracy: Ensure the integrity of financial data processes, including general ledger management, cost accounting, AP/AR, payroll, inventory, budgeting, and forecasting, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Finance: Oversee the production of timely and precise financial reports, manage banking and working capital, and handle tax filings and audit interactions.
- Collaborate: Report directly to the CEO and work closely with the executive team on budget planning, financial metrics, and annual operating plans.
- Lead Innovation: Spearhead technology enhancements in financial reporting through systems such as D365 F&O, CRM, and Power BI dashboards.
- Optimize Operations: Manage accounts receivable, collections, and accounts payable while providing strategic insights on product models and standard costing.
- Be a Strategic Partner: Participate actively in strategic planning and contribute to the overall direction of the company.
Required Qualifications
- BA Degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA preferred
- 10+ years of professional experience, including managing accounting teams
- Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
- Record of strengthening financial processes, systems, and team workflows in evolving settings
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal taxation regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and a passion for data and process improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft D365 F&O (strongly preferred) or other cloud-based ERPs
- Experience in using and implementing Power BI tools
- A passion for fly fishing or a general love for the outdoors
