Site Reliability Engineer (Senior or Staff), Fabric
Job Description
Position Overview
The Platform Engineering team in SRE powers critical infrastructure for MongoDB’s products. Within this team, the Fabric team focuses on managing the multi-cloud network infrastructure—including network architecture, service mesh, and edge load balancing—to ensure secure communication and resilient performance. You can work from our offices in Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, Raleigh, or San Francisco, or remotely from anywhere within the United States.
We are seeking a talented Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong networking background. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in distributed systems and automation to build and maintain the robust infrastructure needed for secure and efficient service-to-service connectivity.

- Collaborate with internal service teams to offer technical guidance and resolve issues related to network connectivity and architecture.
- Take part in a 24/7 on-call rotation to swiftly resolve issues concerning network and service-to-service connectivity.
Required Qualifications
- Have 6+ years of experience working on software and operating distributed systems with a deep understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g. TCP/IP, IPv6, DNS, TLS/mTLS, BGP, tunnels, overlays, and SDN principles).
- Possess a customer-focused mindset, driving improvements that directly benefit end-users.
- Value efficiency and have a strong preference for automation over manual processes.
- Be familiar with modern cloud-based infrastructure and network design primitives in at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP (e.g. VPCs, subnetting, routing, VPNs, peering, private link, and CDNs).
- Have strong knowledge of service mesh and load-balancing concepts for a multi-cloud environment.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is $127,000—$249,000 USD. The final offer will be based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and work location.
- Equity and employee stock purchase program participation
- Flexible paid time off and 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave
- Fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, and mental health counseling
- Access to inclusive health insurance coverage and other health benefits
