Position Overview
Join Marathon Petroleum Corporation as a Mechanical Engineer at a Marathon refinery. In this role you will gain hands‐on experience with industry codes and best practices, develop critical thinking and project management skills, and collaborate with professionals from various engineering disciplines in a dynamic, fast‐paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Familiarize yourself with industry codes, best practices, and refinery operations.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines to support project scopes, estimates, and schedules.
- Oversee design efforts and assist in construction as projects develop.
- Engage in reliability improvements through root cause failure analysis and equipment troubleshooting.
- Enhance your written and verbal presentation skills in a professional work setting.
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program with strong academic performance.
- Authorization to work in the US on a full-time, indefinite basis without visa sponsorship.
- Valid driver's license and concurrent enrollment in a degree-seeking program.
- Willingness to learn about multiple engineering disciplines and project management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Availability for multiple work terms, including spring, summer, and fall semesters.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in the energy sector is a plus.
- Military experience is considered an asset.
