Position Overview

We are seeking a Special Hazards Technician for our Baltimore, Maryland office to perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting on a variety of clean agent and special hazard suppression systems. Compensation: Hourly pay commensurate with experience with opportunity for a results-driven bonus; expected salary range between $30.00 - $40.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, and maintain special hazard fire suppression systems, including clean agent systems (e.g., FM-200, Novec 1230), CO₂ systems, foam suppression systems, water mist systems, and explosion suppression or detection systems.
  • Verify proper system operation through functional and acceptance testing.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot system issues or deficiencies.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable NFPA codes (e.g., NFPA 2001, 12, 750), local regulations, and company standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades on-site to support successful project execution.
  • Document inspections, maintenance, and service activities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience with FM-200, Inergen, CO₂, NOVEC 1230, or other clean agent systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 12, 2001, and related standards.
  • NICET certification (Level I or higher in Special Hazards) is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including mechanical rooms and IT/data centers.
