Jr. Design Engineer & Estimator

This is an exciting opportunity to work on real-world utility projects that power communities—while developing specialized skills in engineering design, estimating, and industry-leading software.
Your Responsibilities
As an Entry-Level Estimator I, you’ll support engineering teams in the preparation of design and construction packages for new and upgraded electrical distribution systems. Your work will follow strict engineering standards, safety regulations, and utility guidelines.
- Analyze engineering and construction challenges and develop design solutions
- Prepare layouts and design packages in compliance with company and utility standards
- Develop plans for:
- Pole replacements
- Equipment and hardware upgrades
- Overhead and underground reconductoring
- Assist with:
- Joint-use pole agreements
- Right-of-way initiation procedures
- License and permit applications
- Utilize specialized software tools and job aids to support estimating and design work
- Perform general assignments as directed by the team supervisor
Education:
Bachelor's Degree: Civil or Mechanical Engineering
(Seeking candidates with either Civil or Mechanical Engineering Degrees from an accredited university or 2 years of similar technical studies or experience)
Desired skills and qualifications:
We’re looking for candidates with a strong technical foundation and a passion for learning:
- Proficiency or ability to self-train in engineering and design software such as:
- PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER
- O’CALC Pro
- AutoCAD
- Bentley MicroStation
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Adobe Acrobat PDF (or similar tools)
- Strong computer and mathematical skills
- Ability to quickly learn and apply technical standards, specifications, rules, and regulations
- Strong attention to detail when creating sketches, layouts, and drawings
- Ability to comprehend and interpret engineering and construction documents
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal) to support a safe, effective work environment
Traveling may be required for training.
Due to government facility work: a minimum of permanent residency is preferred
