Conservation Technician - Forestry - Entry Level

Position Overview

Conservation Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Conservation Technician to support daily operations in Waynesboro, VA. This role involves assisting in field work, deliveries, warehouse duties, tree planting, herbicide application, and maintenance during busy Spring and Fall seasons – which may include overnight and out-of-town travel. Compensation: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrive on time, prepared, and maintain a cooperative relationship with coworkers, vendors, and clients.
• Perform shipping and receiving duties and process incoming shipments with proper storage.
• Prepare materials for shipment or delivery and assist with accurate inventory transaction records.
• Support field operations through tree planting, herbicide applications, and job site maintenance.
• Ensure equipment is maintained, functioning well, and properly documented.
• Make accurate and timely deliveries to field locations.
• Perform general building and warehouse maintenance, including minor construction, painting, and housekeeping.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to lift 70 pounds 100 times in a day.
• Valid, clean state driver's license and ability to pass a standard bi-annual VDOT physical.
• Possession of a Virginia Registered Technician Pesticide Applicator Certification or the ability to acquire certification within six months of employment.
• Pass First Aid certification and Forklift training within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to drive manual transmission equipment.
• Experience driving a large truck with trailer or an agricultural tractor.
• Experience applying herbicides, working in a warehouse, shipping/receiving, or managing inventory.
