Job Description
Position Overview
Mercy Health is a faith-based, patient-focused organization dedicated to helping patients be well in mind, body, and spirit. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will work closely with primary care physicians to deliver exceptional patient care by reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms in accordance with Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and community members respectfully.
- Prepares and reviews patient charts by verifying that diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are current.
- Measures vital signs including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Performs clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones.
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues promptly.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED.
- Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following bodies:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA). An Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable if MA certification cannot be obtained (not accepted in South Carolina). - BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire for certain locations; preferred at hire for others).
- Excellent problem-solving, basic computer, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of healthcare experience as a medical assistant.
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office.
