Job Description

Position Overview

The Mining Engineer will support the exploration, mine planning, and reserves management for the aggregate and sand division, including the use of GIS mapping software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Exploration and Land Management Supervisor with end-to-end exploration drilling projects.
  • Coordinate and prioritize the drilling schedule with the Operations Managers.
  • Schedule internal and external drilling resources to establish realized reserves.
  • Prepare clear and detailed reports on project progress and exploration findings, continuously improving processes and practices.
  • Analyze and interpret exploration data, validate results, and create executive summary reports.
  • Assist with engineering life-of-mine plans for quarries as well as sand and gravel operations with a focus on safety, site conditions, operational efficiency, and material quality.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to communicate technical information and ensure project alignment.
  • Manage and update GIS software for project needs.
  • Provide technical evaluations of short-term and long-term mine plans.
  • Organize and execute projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • Prepare calculations and reports regarding gradations, supplies, reserves, and operations.
  • Maintain regular attendance at the worksite or assigned location.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Geological, Mining, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong engineering and technical skills.
  • Ability to create and comprehend complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and reading comprehension skills.
  • Ability to work independently with some guidance and multi-task under tight schedules.
  • Proficiency in analytical and statistical tools with a results-oriented approach.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some experience in mining or the aggregate industry.
  • Experience with modeling software (AutoCAD, Carlson Mining Software, Esri, Surpac, etc.).
