Position Overview
As a Logistics Trainee at Penske, you will be part of a winning team that drives purposeful innovation and continuous improvement. In this role you will gain hands‐on experience in logistics operations including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and proper documentation. You will train under industry leading professionals and be prepared for future leadership opportunities. Candidates must be willing to relocate based on business needs or upon completion of the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all associates are motivated, engaged, trained, and understand how their work relates to customer objectives.
- Foster a safe work environment by complying with established safety and operational procedures.
- Understand location-specific customer goals and work to exceed these expectations daily.
- Effectively resolve issues and monitor day-to-day operations for compliance using strong organizational skills.
- Learn the Kaizen methodology and implement Lean processes to improve productivity.
- Evaluate and recommend changes in work methods to increase the efficiency of dispatch operations.
- Plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree (Bachelor's Degree required – Business, Supply Chain, Data Science/Analytics or related field is a plus).
- Proven leadership track record in academic, community, club/organization, or military settings.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.A. (unfortunately, no employment visa sponsorship is available).
- Internship or related work experience in a customer-facing role is preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn and navigate various technology platforms.
- High level of commitment, attention to detail, and strong time management and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel as necessary and work the required schedule at the specified location.
