Job Description
Position Overview
The Advancement Associate is responsible for planning and implementing all special events (in-person and virtual) related to capital campaign, fundraising, friend raising, and community events. The role involves executing communication strategies across social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), Blackbaud, e-newsletters, emails, and personal solicitations in order to increase financial support for unrestricted funds, student scholarships, academic programs, and building enhancements. Applicants must be flexible with working early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and possess strong customer service and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate donor, prospect, and alumni events including all aspects of event logistics (in-person and virtual).
- Implement and analyze communication strategies for fundraising events using tools such as Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge, social media, and various giving campaigns.
- Develop and execute comprehensive plans to engage donors, cultivate philanthropy, and build prospect lists.
- Create and manage social media campaigns for Foundation accounts on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.
- Collaborate with SCF faculty, staff, and vendors to enhance donor engagement and manage event budgets and finances.
- Recruit and train event committees and volunteers as needed and ensure quality customer service is delivered throughout events.
- Manage contractor and vendor relationships and adhere to established processes and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Minimum of two (2) years of direct interaction with the public, community engagement, or sales experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong customer service and organizational abilities.
- Proven success in raising private funds or achieving sales targets.
- Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, and email.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience in events management and/or sales relations.
- Previous experience in a college/university or not-for-profit setting.
- One to two years of supervisory experience.
