Job Description
Position Overview
A Healthcare Risk Manager typically reports to the Senior Healthcare Risk Manager or an appropriate administrator. The role is responsible for managing and integrating the risk management program into quality and safety activities across assigned clinical areas, working closely with clinical teams to ensure compliance with federal regulations and clinical policies. The position requires handling sensitive patient, legal, and financial information that directly impacts the University's public image and operational status.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and integrate the risk management program within clinical quality and safety activities.
- Conduct risk management educational programs and facilitate Collaborative Risk Reviews using High Reliability methodology.
- Track, trend, and analyze safety reports to identify areas of potential risk and drive data-driven process improvement.
- Assist with grievance/complaint responses and policy or organizational changes regarding risk management.
- Collect, analyze, and report aggregated risk data to leadership and relevant committees, highlighting trends and exposures.
- Serve as a resource on risk management and patient safety issues for clinical administration, providers, and team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or another allied health field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Appropriate licensure (e.g., Registered Nurse or allied health professional) as required by Florida State.
- Experience with major performance improvement processes and knowledge of patient safety standards.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient, legal, and financial information with confidentiality and ethical judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPHRM Certification (to be obtained within 1 year of employment).
- Knowledge of patient safety principles of High Reliability Organizations and Collaborative Just Culture.
- Certification as a Fact Gatherer and Facilitator in a High Reliability Collaborative Just Culture Program within 1 year of employment.
