Position Overview
AbbVie’s Austin-based Virtual Sales operation is a dynamic team that supports field sales, operations, and marketing initiatives through best practices and quality metrics. As a Virtual Sales Representative, you will work in a fast-paced environment using virtual sales techniques to educate and engage healthcare professionals, drive brand objectives, and foster lasting relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize virtual sales techniques to offer product education, program/service information, samples, and resources while achieving established call volume metrics.
- Successfully complete product training and meet training expectations to effectively service customers.
- Facilitate account management through account planning, field resource coordination, customer education, promotion support, and reporting.
- Engage healthcare professionals with in-depth informational and promotional communications in accordance with program policies and compliance guidelines.
- Establish a commanding and engaging phone presence to build rapport with healthcare professionals at all levels.
- Demonstrate thorough product knowledge by clearly and accurately communicating information using appropriate clinical terminology.
- Listen and respond to customer needs ensuring acceptance of program objectives.
- Process customer requests related to product information, cost, savings, samples, and literature in a timely and professional manner.
- Answer inquiries regarding the process to secure product samples and literature.
- Provide additional sources of product and service information, including referrals to websites and other resources.
- Maintain a positive attitude and customer focus, ensuring timely resolution of issues, concerns, or questions.
- Project a professional and positive company image during all phone interactions.
- Manage inbound and outbound call activity effectively, ensuring adequate coverage when needed.
- Follow approved best practices and compliance guidelines when navigating phone conversations.
- Accurately enter relevant information, including follow-up actions, into company systems to ensure data integrity.
- Collaborate with team members to determine strategic sales approaches and maintain required product expertise.
- Partner with Field Sales, Operations, and Marketing to identify methods for enhancing effectiveness.
- Meet and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly outbound call volume metrics and productivity goals.
- Manage a targeted list of healthcare professionals, providing value-added benefits to grow product volume.
- Optimize daily sales call activity to maximize the achievement of sales objectives.
- Identify, prioritize, and drive opportunities to create access, programs, and processes that drive demand.
- Communicate effectively and timely with your Manager.
- Follow established escalation pathways for issue resolution.
- Maintain up-to-date training materials and job aides as provided by the training department.
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Background in direct selling; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of customer service and/or sales experience.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, excellent organizational skills, and superior communication and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of medical terminology and the ability to pronounce medical terms.
- Knowledge of the medical device or pharmaceutical market.
- Experience within the healthcare industry, including interactions with physicians, patients, and office staff.
- Demonstrated professional phone etiquette.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and assimilate information to adhere to established best practices, activity goals, and quality standards.
- Experience with applications, databases, and other core tools.
- Effectiveness in both independent and team environments.
