Position Summary: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Mission Critical practice, you will design advanced building systems, prepare design documents and perform engineering calculations in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. You will resolve complex engineering challenges, mentor less experienced staff, and play a vital role in business development and risk management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare or direct the preparation of design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications for Hyperscale Data Centers.
- Lead project and design efforts from concept design through completion.
- Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Research and recommend the feasibility of systems or equipment, evaluating products for their application.
- Develop solutions to complex engineering problems and challenging design conditions.
- Ensure deliverables meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Advise and mentor less experienced designers and engineers, providing technical guidance.
- Direct activities of technical and administrative staff as needed.
- Continuously develop and expand personal and team knowledge.
- Assist Technical Managers and Directors with establishing goals, policies, and standards.
- Contribute to developing tools, resources, and company best practices.
- Implement and reinforce design and engineering standards across teams.
- Oversee project quality reviews and provide final project assessments when required.
- Establish and maintain relationships with strategic partners and customers to expand business opportunities.
- Engage in client and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and architects throughout project cycles.
- Visit job sites to verify conditions and construction progress.
- Resolve conflicts among owners, architects, and contractors as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers to meet project management responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) with 15 years of experience, or commensurate experience; High School Diploma/GED required.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, industry codes, design guides, and standards.
- Understanding of earned value, contracts, and construction processes.
- Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
- High technical aptitude with the ability to learn and utilize various systems and processes.
- Comfort and capability in training others on systems and processes.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across various levels.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- A team-oriented mindset with adaptability to changing work environments and priorities.
- Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback and embrace coaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Completion of FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation is highly preferred.
