Position Overview

We're looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our small business, where your accuracy and efficiency make a real impact. Position Description: The Junior Accountant supports day-to-day, monthly, and year-end accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accounts receivable files, prepare invoices, and track payments
  • Manage accounts payable files, validate expenses, and ensure timely invoice payments
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities including journal entry posting, balance sheet reconciliations, and corporate expense allocation
  • Prepare, review, and analyze general ledger account reconciliations and financial statements
  • Generate internal financial management reports and support cash flow, budget formulation, pricing/cost proposals, and tax activities
  • Perform payroll activities including tax payments and workers’ compensation payroll processing
  • Assist with contract financial performance activities, indirect rate budgets, and DCAA submissions
  • Participate in interim and year-end internal financial audits as well as external audit processes
  • Support 401k financial reconciliations and reviews, and provide recommendations for accounting process improvements

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Above average knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial/accounting principles
  • Above average proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel (formulas, shortcuts, functions), Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Teams
  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Payroll Network)
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced small business environment
  • Ability to handle personal identifiable information (PII) and controlled unclassified information (CUI); U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a federal government contractor

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: The annual projected pay range for this position is $53,384 - $75,928, with considerations based on qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
