Our client, a leader in aerospace innovation, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Aviation Systems Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation aircraft systems. This exciting opportunity is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US, and requires a deep understanding of avionics, flight control systems, and airframe integration. You will play a crucial role in the design, testing, and validation of complex aviation technologies, ensuring safety, performance, and reliability.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate complex avionics and flight control systems for commercial and/or military aircraft.
  • Define system requirements, architecture, and interfaces for new aviation products.
  • Conduct system-level analysis, including performance, reliability, safety, and maintainability assessments.
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols for system validation and verification.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues throughout the development lifecycle, from concept to production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including software, hardware, mechanical, and aerodynamics.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation standards and regulations, such as DO-178C and DO-254.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and certification documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on system engineering best practices.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in aviation systems engineering.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input.
  • Support manufacturing and flight test operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in aviation systems engineering, with a focus on avionics or flight controls.
  • Background: Proven experience with system design, integration, and testing of complex aerospace systems.
  • Understanding: Strong understanding of aircraft systems architecture, interfaces, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity: Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL-STD).
  • Tools: Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo, Rhapsody) is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency in relevant simulation and analysis tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
