Position Overview

In alignment with our vision of "Healthy People in Healthy Communities," the Psychiatric Certified Medical Assistant (PCMA) plays a key role in supporting psychiatric providers and ensuring the smooth operation of our Psychiatric Clinic. Under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Coordinator and general supervision of a psychiatric provider, you will assist with patient rooming, gathering baseline clinical data, maintaining accurate clinical records, and supporting our dedicated care team.

Compensation: $20.85 hourly pay

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide and promote excellent customer service to visitors, patients, clients, and staff in person and on the phone.
  • Screen patients, document findings in the electronic medical record system, and alert the practitioner to any special care needs.
  • Assist the practitioner and other professional staff in the delivery of patient care, reinforcing discharge instructions and related deliverables.
  • Administer medications under the direction of healthcare professionals and document appropriately in the medical information system.
  • Support NATIVE HEALTH as needed to ensure a therapeutic and efficient clinical environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and outstanding customer service.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinic operations, and infection control processes.
  • Ability to prioritize duties, remain punctual and dependable, and adjust to unexpected events.
  • Proficiency with computer-based applications (Microsoft 365) and electronic health records (NextGen).
  • Familiarity with privacy and confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations, including compliance and reporting.
  • Medication administration knowledge and appropriate skills as demonstrated through medical assistant competencies.
  • Skills in the use of medical instruments and supplies with cost-efficient utilization.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a family practice outpatient setting, including experience with child and adult patients.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in demeanor, punctuality, reliability, and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (or obtain one within 30 days of hire), pass a criminal background check, substance abuse testing, and meet immunization, TB skin test, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association or a comparable certification from an accredited organization is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
