Job Description

Position Overview

At BlueOval SK, a joint venture formed by Ford and SK On, we are driving the transformation of the electric vehicle (EV) battery business by leveraging world‐class expertise. The Quality Manufacturing Engineer will be a key member of our start‐up team, responsible for launching a state‐of‐the‐art battery manufacturing facility in Kentucky and Tennessee. You will play a critical role in ensuring rigorous quality testing, reliability assessments, and certification processes as we build the batteries for electric vehicle business excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review gate safety and reliability assessments in advance
  • Respond to marketing and cell development requirements; perform RFQ assessments (analyzing test conditions, conducting tests, and reporting results)
  • Conduct special and urgent tests requested by major customers
  • Review and approve results of safety, performance, and reliability tests during gate evaluations
  • Perform regular shipment safety tests by evaluating manufacturing instruments and reporting results
  • Conduct mass production reliability tests
  • Test products following 4M changes
  • Set up and maintain real-time evaluation systems for the Battery Quality Management System (B_QMS)
  • Establish test standards by item, register revisions, and analyze measurement systems (MSA)
  • Plan, drive, and coordinate certification initiatives
  • Manage post-assessments and certifications including UL WTDP, TUV, and UN certification
  • Respond to S-mark cell certification for ESS (Japan; UL Japan, UL Korea, TUV Rhineland) and other regional certifications for xEV and ESS
  • Conduct UN transportation testing and publish test reports
  • Manage assets and maintain testing instruments including calibration and standard operating procedures
  • Review specifications and order evaluation instruments as needed
  • Plan and implement monthly calibration programs
  • Monitor the quality evaluation building environment under 3R and 5S practices
  • Conduct job hazard analyses, including near-miss accident investigations and compliance with material safety data
  • Oversee the safety and security of the quality evaluation building (IT and facility management)
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly through root cause analysis
  • Flexibility for job placement and rotation across various plant positions including Production or Quality
  • Strong customer orientation with strict adherence to the Quality Operating System
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and execute to achieve results
  • Experience serving as a technical mentor to both hourly and salary production teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to support any shift in a 7-day work pattern
  • Willingness to travel significantly during the initial plant start-up phase
  • Demonstrated leadership with outstanding interpersonal and team-building skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Material, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial Engineering or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in developing and managing quality systems
  • Successful track record in project and QMS implementations, with experience in production validation processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
