Junior Software Engineer

Position Overview

Junior Software Developer opportunity with a large grocery and retail client.Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid) |Schedule: 1 year contract (40hr/week, likelihood of extension or permanent placement) |Salary: $30/hr DOE.
We are looking for a passionate and eager Junior Developer who is ready to grow their skills at our client site. Brooksource's Elevate program is designed to bridge the gap between education and in-demand IT roles. Ideal candidates will have a foundational understanding of Java programming and a desire to learn and apply new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
• Execute unit tests and assist in the testing process to ensure application reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with other development staff to achieve quality and consistency.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Develop and maintain operational and system level documentation.
• Assist in the analysis and troubleshooting of application issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field (ideally recent graduation August or December 2025).
• 0 to 2 years of relevant work experience with Java and Spring through internships or coursework projects.
• Strong communication skills, a collaborative nature, and a desire to grow and learn.
