Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy as directed by Physician orders.
- Administer intramuscular injections, subcutaneous injections, intradermal skin testing, topical medications, and ophthalmic drops.
- Work in conjunction with other staff to maximize clinic flow.
- Intervene appropriately in emergency situations.
- Document work in patient records either in the Electronic Medical Record or the paper chart.
- Provide backup support to front desk staff by scheduling patient visits and performing check-in and check-out activities.
- Perform the initial portion of the exam by obtaining measurements and gathering a brief patient history.
- Assist Physicians with difficult exams.
- Assist in the retrieval and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical products dispensed from the Pharmacy to the appropriate patient care provider.
- Stock and maintain the clinic area, including changing needle boxes when 2/3 full.
- Evaluate and document changes to the plan in the Electronic Medical Record or in the paper chart.
- Demonstrate knowledge of protocols related to chemical disinfection, high-level disinfection, and sterilization.
Required Qualifications
- Some college education preferred.
- BLS Certification required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred but not required (CMA, AAMA, or RMA).
