Entry Level Construction Services Field Technician

Position Overview

WSP is hiring a Construction Services Field Technician for our Albuquerque, New Mexico office. This opportunity is ideal for professionals who are eager to work with an established engineering consulting firm that values technical contributions and enthusiasm. You will play an essential role in field inspections and testing while growing your career alongside a team of dedicated and collaborative experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections and observations on roadway, structures, utilities, dams, airports, and bridge construction projects.
• Conduct soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry testing.
• Prepare daily reports detailing observations and test results.
• Monitor work procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Interact with client representatives such as supervisors, foremen, project managers, and engineers at project sites.
• Analyze and calculate to confirm the accuracy and applicability of testing data.
• Travel to construction sites within New Mexico, with approximately 30% overnight travel.
• Assist in laboratory testing including asphalt, aggregate, and concrete when needed.
• Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources in accordance with WSP’s Code of Conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Reliability with the ability to arrive at designated project sites on time.
• Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
• Willingness to travel within New Mexico (approximately 30% overnight travel).
• Must be eligible to utilize a WSP Fleet Vehicle(s) per company policy (drivers must be at least 21 years old).
• Must pass background checks and maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACI certification.
• 1+ years of Materials Testing experience.
