Job Description

Position Overview

Baltimore City Schools is hiring a Data Analyst, Continuous Improvement with 3–5 years of experience based in the United States – Baltimore, MD with in-office ways of working. In the Office of the Chief of Staff, this role supports the strategic use of data and analytics to inform district‐level improvement efforts through developing data routines, creating visualizations, and preparing reports and presentations for district leaders and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze data, interpret findings, and extract insights to inform continuous improvement projects and efforts.
  • Develop tools and methods to display data that provide insights into the systems under investigation.
  • Assist in project reports by researching, writing, editing, and taking responsibility for assigned sections.
  • Create clear graphical representations (charts, graphs, etc.) to communicate findings to stakeholders and district leaders.
  • Compose succinct documents (reports, one-pagers, etc.) that translate complex analytical ideas into actionable insights.
  • Provide information to enhance district leaders’ reflections and decision-making regarding KPIs and office indicators.
  • Support coaching of district staff and leaders in collaboration with improvement experts to identify measures and monitor progress.
  • Leverage district-wide data systems and platforms to back improvement efforts within the district office.
  • Collaborate with district staff and leaders to define data sources and design data collection and analysis structures.
  • Coordinate with team members to systematize and align processes and data displays for uniform data collection and sharing.
  • Demonstrate competency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis in an educational context.
  • Exhibit knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies while establishing clear goals, deliverables, deadlines, and success metrics.
  • Approach the role with personal accountability for the success of the City Schools’ Racial Equity Policy.
  • Work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with district and school leaders, staff, and students.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 4 years of work experience in rigorous qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Significant experience with spreadsheets, forms, databases, data visualization, data cleaning, coding, and validation.
  • Experience using data from multiple sources, both qualitative and quantitative, to support learning and improvement.
  • A background in working with local school districts or schools is a plus.
