Job Description

Position Overview

Schnackel Engineering is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Miami, FL. In this role, you'll leverage your engineering expertise and our groundbreaking AI for MEP® software platform to develop high-quality mechanical plans and specifications for architectural projects across North America. You will also provide leadership and mentoring to colleagues while helping shape the future of MEP/FP/IT engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with clients, the MEP/FP/IT design team, and other consultants to ensure design consistency with the client’s vision, resolve conflicts, maintain a coordinated interdisciplinary design, and adhere to the design schedule.
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls as necessary.
  • Familiarize yourself with applicable project codes.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and related software to create detailed mechanical construction document packages, including plans with equipment, ductwork, piping, and specifications.
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, ductwork and pipe sizing, and other related calculations to support mechanical design.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and manufacturer representatives for equipment selection and specification.
  • Provide construction administration (CA) services, including responding to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Mentor and provide guidance to colleagues.

Required Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering (with a Mechanical emphasis) or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on HVAC systems.
  • Five or more years of mechanical design experience with an MEP/FP engineering consultant.
  • Advanced proficiency with California Building, Mechanical, and Energy Codes.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Professional Engineer (PE) credentials in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with proper direction.
