Based in Location: Cincinnati, OH, this executive leadership role is a pivotal opportunity to shape the future of our client's supply chain and drive significant business impact. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader responsible for the entire sourcing and procurement function, overseeing all aspects of strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, and procurement operations. You will be tasked with developing and executing a world-class procurement strategy that aligns with the company's aggressive growth objectives, ensuring the acquisition of high-quality goods and services at the most competitive costs. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and communicate a comprehensive, long-term procurement strategy that supports the company's overall business goals with a focus on cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier innovation.
- Oversee the strategic management of all direct and indirect spend categories—including raw materials, packaging, contract manufacturing, logistics, marketing, IT, and professional services—through in-depth market analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of sourcing and procurement professionals, establishing clear objectives and development plans.
- Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with key suppliers, establishing robust programs that include performance scorecards, business reviews, and joint business planning.
- Drive a culture of cost-consciousness by identifying and executing cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and value engineering.
- Lead complex contract negotiations to secure favorable terms and manage the entire contract lifecycle ensuring compliance and performance.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Champion continuous improvement in procurement processes and systems by evaluating and implementing advanced procurement technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including R&D, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Legal—to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
- Develop and manage the annual procurement budget with accurate forecasting and reporting on spend and savings.
- Promote a sustainable and ethical sourcing program ensuring supplier compliance with social responsibility and environmental standards.
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices to drive ongoing innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience Required: A minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role managing a team.
- Industry Expertise: Significant experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Food & Beverage, or related consumer-facing industries.
- Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated mastery in negotiating multi-million dollar contracts with global suppliers.
- Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in spend analysis and cost modeling.
- Leadership Presence: Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence senior executives and external partners.
- ERP Systems: Hands-on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a related Master’s degree is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Possession of professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is a strong plus.
- Global Sourcing: Experience in managing an international supply base and executing global sourcing strategies.
- Change Management: Proven track record in leading organizational change and business process transformation within procurement.
- Commodities Experience: Experience in sourcing key commodities relevant to the CPG industry, such as agricultural products, resins, or corrugate.
