Position Overview

TxDOT's Human Resources Office in Houston is seeking a year‐round Intern Support Technician to support the largest district in the state. This entry‐level position offers hands‐on exposure to all areas of Human Resources—from confidential record management and data entry to assisting with recruiting and event preparation. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining confidential information, records, files, and logs (both paper and electronic)
  • Support HR Generalists and work collaboratively with other interns on assigned tasks and projects
  • Enter data into various Human Resources systems and conduct data audits/updates
  • Assist with recruiting, pre‐employment/due diligence tasks, onboarding/offboarding, and event preparation (including New Employee Orientation and Wellness events)
  • Gain exposure to a variety of Human Resources issues by observing conversations, presentations, and assisting with additional tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a student in high school or enrolled in a college, university, or another post-secondary educational institution
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age; applicants 18 or older must have a valid driver's license (driving duties and power tool use may apply)
  • Physical Requirements include the ability to lift up to 20 lbs (frequently up to 10 lbs), prolonged periods of sitting and standing, repetitive wrist/hand movements, and close visual acuity for data and computer work
