Position Overview

DATA SCIENTIST job at Department of the Air Force – Agency Wide, Los Angeles, CA. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties in the Data Science field and to complete developmental assignments and training outlined in the formal training and developmental plan. This announcement is open to recent graduates, the public, and current students.

Key Responsibilities

• DUTY 1: Performs developmental assignments in support of projects, applying accepted data science procedures and conducting analytical investigations.
• DUTY 2: Conducts general operations and assignments, compiling, organizing, analyzing, and processing data, and assists higher graded data scientists with problem solving.
• DUTY 3: Participates in special initiatives and research projects and assists in preparing reports and briefings with study findings and recommendations.
• DUTY 4: Prepares correspondence and documentation including reports, letters, and newsletter items.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required along with compliance with Selective Service registration and other federal employment conditions.
• A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a directly related field.
• Professional knowledge of data science principles including scientific methods, data analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
• Minimum GPA of 2.95 on a 4.0 scale and eligibility to serve a one-year probationary period.
