Position Overview
Soundscapes is seeking an AV Technician in Nashville, TN. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with AV systems, including planning, rack dressing, wiring, installation, commissioning, and service of audio–visual equipment. You will work on high-end residential and corporate projects—installing premier audio, video, network wiring and components—with an emphasis on outstanding customer service and effective communication with clients, management, and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, assemble, install and terminate AV equipment racks and head-ends with an emphasis on clean, professional rack dressing.
- Install, terminate, test and label various low voltage and AV cable types including CAT5/6, coax, speaker wire, and line-level audio.
- Install and securely support a range of AV components including video displays, projectors, projection screens, and speakers.
- Read and interpret blueprints and AV system schematic diagrams.
- Identify cable paths and effectively relay site survey information to project managers.
- Perform start-up, debugging, and troubleshooting of AV systems (experience with Elan and Control 4 Systems is preferred).
- Diagnose and repair system or component failures using test equipment such as a digital multi-meter.
- Execute configuration-level programming of various systems.
- Maintain accurate records by documenting installation details, time, and materials.
- Complete tasks within specified cost budgets and project schedules.
- Comply with all mandatory safety requirements and established safety practices.
- Share technical knowledge and trade best practices with team members.
- Perform additional related duties as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience as an Audio Video Installer or Low Voltage Installer on residential and/or commercial projects.
- Proficient in the proper use of hand/power tools, ladders, and site safety equipment.
- Ability to lift/maneuver up to 70 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks including working at heights of 3-25 ft.
- Exceptional time management, problem-solving skills, and a self-motivated work ethic.
- Strong practical knowledge of audio video systems and low voltage systems.
- Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, and OSHA codes and standards.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Experience with control systems is a plus.
- Minimum of a high school diploma with substantial related experience.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, hold a valid license, maintain a clean driving record, and pass drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in control systems programming using URC, Crestron, Control 4, Lutron, RTI, and/or Elan.
- Solid understanding of data networks.
