Position Overview

Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Salary: Pay Grade 28, Step 1 of the union (OCSEA) Pay Range Schedule ($22.96 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($23.56) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter. We are currently seeking two (2) Inventory Control Specialist 2s to support the essential functions of our warehouse. This position is a versatile, hands‑on role responsible for operational readiness, safeguarding critical public health assets, and enabling effective emergency response across the state. The Inventory Control Specialist 2 encompasses inventory control, asset management and maintenance, and logistics coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a central point through which all warehouse operations are coordinated.
  • Maintain the readiness of critical assets and supplies needed for public health programs and emergencies.
  • Ensure vital medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment are accurately tracked, stored correctly, and available when needed to meet statewide public health demands.
  • Perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment (e.g., mobile health unit, ultra low freezers, mobile cooling units, and oxygen generators) to guarantee assets are fully operational and ready for deployment.
  • Use the warehouse management system to coordinate, distribute, analyze, and monitor inventory.
  • Receive, inspect, distribute, and maintain inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment for statewide distribution.
  • Perform inventory counts in the warehouse including unstacking/restacking pallets and removing/repacking interior boxes from cases.
  • Enter, update, verify, track, and maintain computerized inventory records.
  • Prepare and assist with the loading and unloading of materials, supplies, and equipment for statewide shipments.
  • Operate material handling equipment (MHE) to organize materials in the warehouse.
  • Move and lift objects weighing up to thirty (30) pounds.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures on warehouse inventory control and salvage disposal as assigned.
  • Monitor the receipt and disposition of surplus inventory and resolve inventory-related issues.
  • Prepare inventory reports for quality control and data reconciliation.
  • Assist other warehouse personnel with various duties (e.g., answering phones, reviewing packing requests, assisting with special and/or rush orders).
  • Attend meetings and training sessions pertaining to warehouse management and inventory.

Required Qualifications

  • 9 months experience as Inventory Control Specialist, 64551; OR 18 months training or 18 months experience in inventory control AND 3 courses; OR 9 months experience in electronic data processing related to inventory control AND 1 course; OR 3 months experience in public relations; OR Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment.

  • Official educational transcripts are required for all post-high school educational accomplishments, coursework or degrees claimed on the application. Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or advanced degree in business or public administration.
  • Experience utilizing a warehouse management system.
  • Experience with inbound and outbound inventory shipments.
  • Experience in the order fulfillment lifecycle including order creation, processing, picking, quality assurance inspection, and shipping logistics.
  • Experience in operating warehouse material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Experience in operating oversized vehicles (e.g., pickup trucks with trailers, Recreational Vehicles [RV's]).
  • Experience in identifying and coordinating the maintenance of warehouse material handling equipment and vehicles.
  • Experience in communicating effectively with team members.
