Job Description
Position Overview
At Beckman Coulter Life Sciences – one of Danaher’s 15+ operating companies – we accelerate potential and make a real impact in life sciences, diagnostics, and biotechnology. As the Staff Process Engineer, you will support process engineering activities at our Indianapolis Site, addressing product and process technical challenges to improve quality and delivery. You will employ structured problem-solving methodologies (such as Six Sigma, 5 Why, and 8-D) and leverage expertise in PFMEA, process capability, data analysis, and error proofing to drive solutions in a high-impact, production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide sustaining engineering support for Life Science products (Particle Characterization, Centrifuge, and Liquid Handling Automation) at the Indianapolis Site.
- Manage electrical and mechanical design projects from conception through design, release, and production to resolve product design issues impacting customer quality, delivery, yield, cost, and regulatory or feature enhancements.
- Lead and support design change team activities to document and implement design changes in compliance with design control procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related technology) with 9+ years experience in product development/product engineering support, or a Master’s Degree with 7+ years experience.
- Experience with instrumentation design and integration including complex electro-mechanical systems, fluid handling, pneumatics, thermal systems, and/or optical systems.
- Proficiency in using SolidWorks (surface modeling, motion, simulation), performing tolerance analysis, and applying GD&T.
- Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot and improve mechanical and electromechanical systems using formal problem-solving methodologies and analytical/statistical methods.
- Physical/Environment Requirement: Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 50lb.
