GalMed is currently seeking a skilled front desk receptionist/Certified Medical Assistant to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care and medical administrative support with experience in various medical settings. You will be the welcoming face and efficient support system for our patients and medical staff. This role combines vital clinical assistance with front-office responsibilities, ensuring smooth patient flow and exceptional service. Your duties include taking vital signs, assisting with patient intake, managing appointment scheduling, patient registration, and various administrative tasks. Your energetic approach will help create a positive environment that promotes patient satisfaction and operational excellence.
Job Type: Full-time | Compensation: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour | Expected Hours: 40 per week | Work Location: In person
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance information, and assist with patient intake processes.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, guiding patients through procedures, and addressing concerns professionally.
- Measure and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
- Process insurance information for practice billing in a timely manner.
- Update patient medical records and charts.
- Verify and authorize provider appointments as necessary.
- Confirm patient information and identification.
- Prepare patients for healthcare visits and accurately enter assessment data into the EMR.
- Escort patients to exam rooms for provider evaluation.
- Obtain medical and social histories from patients.
- Complete all required forms accurately.
- Support providers during examination and treatment, assisting as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding to accurately document patient encounters.
- Proficiency in using EHR systems for documentation and appointment management; familiarity with clinical procedures is an advantage.
- Experience working with insurance portals and delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting with intake procedures.
- Understanding of medication administration protocols and emergency response procedures, including basic life support (BLS).
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to working with diverse populations spanning pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
