About LIA

The Laser Institute (LIA) is the professional home for laser safety and technology. Since 1968, we have served laser professionals across science, industry, and manufacturing through education, certification, standards, and events. Our members and customers include safety professionals, engineers, researchers, medical professionals, business leaders, educators and the organizations that employ them.

The Role

We're looking for a motivated, phone-first sales professional to grow revenue across LIA's portfolio, which includes corporate memberships, training programs, event sponsorships, and exhibitor opportunities. This is a B2B relationship sales role focused on outbound prospecting, pipeline development, and closing.

You don't need a background in lasers. You need to know how to find the right decision-maker, get them on the phone, understand what they need, and close.

This role is within Florida with approximately 10–15% travel to industry events and client visits.

Compensation: $50,000 base salary + commission | Bonus eligible | OTE $75,000-$80,000

What You'll Do

  • Prospect and build your own pipeline through outbound calls, email, social media (e.g., LinkedIn), and event networking
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across LIA's product portfolio
  • Represent LIA at industry conferences and tradeshows, including lead generation and post-event follow-up
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations independently
  • Maintain organized records of pipeline activity, outreach, and deal progress
  • Collaborate with the marketing team, which drives audience growth and inbound leads, while you focus on converting and closing

>>> LIA doesn't have a sales team. You'd be the primary sales rep, working directly with senior leadership to build the function from the ground up.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 1–2 years of B2B sales experience with demonstrated outbound activity
  • Comfortable with phone-first outreach, not just email
  • Able to present a pitch deck
  • Self-directed and accountable to results without close supervision
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable with technology and quick to adopt new tools
  • Central Florida-based
  • Able to commute reliably to the LIA office in east Orange County
  • Able to travel domestically approximately 10–15% of the time

Nice to Have:

  • Experience selling to industrial, manufacturing, medical, or research markets
  • Can speak the language of the laser industry
  • Has knowledge of optics/photonics and/or the associated community
  • Familiarity with association, nonprofit, or event sponsorship sales cycles
