Job Description

Position Overview

Works with our clients and their IT personnel to design and layout a forward thinking, fully integrated security system. The system design engineer collects data, establishes facts, and draws upon experience and research to design a system that is fully integrated and works with existing conditions. The engineer works with the company installation department, technicians, and project managers to create forward thinking, innovative, and integrated systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer access control, camera, intrusion alarm, and GPS systems based on contract requirements, site conditions, manufacturer specifications, and building codes
  • Develop system design concepts and equipment requirements for complex and/or multisite systems
  • Identify and define system security requirements
  • Review system proposals for product accuracy and compatibility
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Liaise with vendors, IT personnel, and other site managers
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities
  • Manage and monitor complete installation jobs
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and test application performance or potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with site personnel, installation crews, and service teams to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems
  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancement
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of field experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience reading and understanding electrical system diagrams and building plans
  • Ability to produce designs that utilize suitable equipment and software
  • Experience in producing, installing, and implementing new systems along with system testing
  • Logical work methods
  • Must be able to pass company background check with no prior criminal convictions, pending criminal charges, or active arrest warrants
  • Strong communications skills to consult with clients and systems analysts about required specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITT experience a plus
  • Experience in electrical work is a plus
