Job Description
Position Overview
Join our multi-disciplinary sustainability team at CannonDesign as a Sustainability Specialist. In this role you will collaborate with design and technical leadership on institutional and commercial building projects to implement sustainable design strategies, manage documentation for rating systems like LEED, and drive innovation through research and stakeholder engagement. Salary: $70,600 to $88,200 per year; Location: Boston, MA.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, facilitate, and coordinate sustainable design strategies for multiple institutional and commercial building design and construction projects.
- Coordinate documentation processes for rating systems and standards, primarily LEED.
- Guide the sustainable design process through workshops, design charrettes, and stakeholder engagement.
- Research materials, systems, and innovative approaches to improve project health and wellness.
- Facilitate in-house design team and client meetings.
- Perform building energy and life cycle analyses.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and document construction requirements for LEED and similar standards.
- Recommend improvements to enhance process quality and coordination efforts.
- Perform related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree required.
- LEED AP BD+C certification required.
- 4+ years of relevant experience required.
- Strong sustainability portfolio with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Environmental Design is preferred.
- Additional certifications (e.g., WELL AP) a plus.
- Experience with healthcare, education, and/or commercial design projects.
- Experience in energy analysis software (e.g., eQUEST, Energy Plus) preferred.
- Experience with life cycle assessment tools (e.g., Tally, One-Click LCA, Athena) preferred.
